Cleric is an AI-powered agent designed to diagnose and resolve issues in production environments. It uses an LLM-based reasoning engine to react to, interpret, and diagnose production issues, even those it's encountering for the first time.

About the Role

We're building an AI-powered engineer to bring about a future where engineering teams will be hybrid human-machine. This requires rethinking design, user interfaces, and interactions, from first principles.

As the Founding Design Engineer, you will shape how our AI teammate is embodied and how it manifests in engineering teams. You will own both product design and our end-to-end user experience, while working closely with our end users to iterate towards product-market fit.

You will be responsible for conducting user research, setting product direction, prototyping new concepts, crafting user experiences, and implementing the end solution. You'll work in person with research and backend engineering teams to manifest this vision into a product that our users love to use.

Responsibilities

As the Founding Design Engineer at Cleric, you will:

• Own product design end-to-end for our AI agent, from ideation to implementation.

• Conduct user research and create a tight feedback loop between our users and the product.

• Create intuitive, engaging user interfaces and experiences for our AI product.

• Establish and maintain a durable and adaptable design system for consistency across all product surfaces

• Collaborate closely with backend engineering and research teams to transition from product vision to implementation.

• Build and integrate prototypes to quickly validate ideas with end users.

• Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices.

• Develop and engineer production grade front-end interfaces as web, CLI, or conversational layers.

Who We Are Looking For

Ideally these qualities describe you:

• A proven track record in both designing and building products, with public examples of your work.

• Ideally you have at least 5 years of experience designing products aimed at engineers, and prior experience in designing AI, data, or observability focused products.

• Meticulous attention to detail and obsession with the end user.

• You have a degree in Design, HCI, CS, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience with front end technologies like React and TypeScript.

• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite.

• You're looking for a fast-paced work environment and a need to own the creative process end-to-end.
