About the Role

We're building an AI-powered engineer to bring about a future where engineering teams will be hybrid human-machine. This requires rethinking design, user interfaces, and interactions, from first principles.

We are looking for a deeply experienced and talented Founding Product Designer who is genuinely excited about this challenge and helping to shape and define what the future of human-machine interaction looks like.

As the Founding Product Designer, you will be the tip of the spear, shaping how our AI teammate interacts with engineering teams. You will play a critical role in our team. You'll own the product design end-to-end, working closely with end users on a daily basis to iterate on the product experience.

You will be responsible for conducting user research, shaping product direction, prototyping new concepts, and crafting intuitive and engaging user experiences. You'll work in person with research and development teams to manifest this vision into a product that our users love to use.

Responsibilities

As the Founding Product Designer at Cleric, you will:

• Own product design end-to-end, from ideation to implementation, for our core AI product

• Conduct user research and create a tight feedback loop between our users and the product to iterate towards product-market fit

• Create intuitive, engaging user interfaces and experiences for our AI product

• Establish and maintain a durable and adaptable design system for consistency across all product surfaces

• Collaborate closely with software engineering and research teams to transition from product vision to implementation

• Build and integrate prototypes to quickly validate ideas with end users

• Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices

Who We Are Looking For

Ideally these qualities describe you:

• A proven track record in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing your UI/UX design skills

• You have at least 7 years of experience designing products aimed at engineers, and ideally have prior experience in designing for AI, data, or observability focused products

• Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Creative Suite

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• You have a degree in Design, HCI, or equivalent practical experience

• Experience with front-end technologies like React and TypeScript is a plus

• An obsession with AI and a desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment
